Others think that the end of the world may be brought about by the acts of humans.

It is based on the exact date that the Mayan calendar is forecast to end, but what does this actually mean ?
Mayans were primitive yet advanced for their time and predicted that 2012 will be the end of life on Earth. Mayan scholars were highly skilled at developing precise astrological devices from stone, and at the same time held religious beliefs that included rituals such as sacrificing humans to the Gods.
The Mayan Calendar predicts the end of natural life on Earth on December 21, 2012.
Some of the ways predicted to bring about the end of the world are:
Massive Solar blasts of radiation
For as long as this planet has existed, solar blasts have exposed the earth to radiation, however in 2012 this is predicted to become so intense as to knock the power grids and destroy satellites. This level of solar radiation is extreemly dangerous to lifeforms and is predicted to cause mass destruction of life in December 2012.
Natural disasters
Natural catastrophes predicted to end life on this planet include volcanic eruptions.
The Yellowstone volcano is said to have an eruption pattern of 650,000 years.
Geologists anticipate that Yellowstone Volcano could be due for a massive eruption in 2012 as the underlaying pressure is continuously growing.

Nostradamus is famous for his predictions that many believe have been proved true by past events.
What did Nostradamus predict for 2012, the end of the world, or a new beginning ?
The difficulty with Nostradamus 2012 End of the World Doomsday Prophecy and his other prophecies, is that they are in poetic verse called Quatrains.
In addition they use metaphorical language to describe events expected to happen in the future – which leaves them open to interpretation.
Despite this, some of his predictions have been surprisingly close – for instance he named Adolf Hitler ‘Hister’ and named York as the city in which two towers would burn – referring to it as a ‘New’ city. Another very specific prediction, the death of Princess Diana was surprisingly accurate in that he used her exact name.
Other predictions are not so clear, and often only become obvious in hind-sight after the event has taken place.
So at present there is still plenty of discussion or disagreement over exactly what the Nostradamus 2012 end of world Prophecy actually means.
One theory is that an end of the world event will be associated with the emergence of the Third Antichrist’ in the Middle East and may involve nuclear weapons.
Should Nostradamus predictions come true in 2012, a global nuclear war could destroy whole countries and many millions of people all over the world.
Despite the thoughts of mass destruction, nuclear war is survivable if you are prepared.
One lesson to be taken from Nostradamus 2012 End of the World Doomsday Prophecy is that preparations begun now can be useful, even if it may be a case of preparing for the worst, and hoping for the best.
When the amazing record of Nostradamus predicting the future is considered, preparation for something significant in 2012 appears to be a smart thing to do.
